301 stainless steel is a classic austenitic stainless steel, most notably characterized by its extremely high work hardening rate. This means that during cold working processes (such as rolling, stamping, and bending), its strength and hardness increase dramatically, while its ductility decreases accordingly. This makes it ideal for manufacturing high-strength, high-hardness structural components.

301 stainless steel is a "high-strength specialty steel." Its core secret lies in its "low nickel, low chromium" formula (16-18% chromium, 6-8% nickel), which renders its austenitic structure in a metastable state. Once cold working (such as rolling or stamping) is applied, the material undergoes "strain-induced martensitic transformation" internally, leading to a dramatic surge in strength and hardness while simultaneously becoming magnetic. This "soft first, hard later" characteristic allows it to be easily shaped while gaining exceptional strength and elasticity after forming. As a result, it specializes in high-end structural components, making it the material of choice for manufacturing high-speed train bodies, high-end springs, electronic product casings, and other applications requiring extreme strength, lightweight design, and elastic elements—rather than for ordinary containers or pipelines.
